Important Fraudulent Internship Notice:
Important Fraudulent Internship Notice:
Criminals have been sending emails to students and faculty at universities around the nation, including GCU, offering fake internship opportunities. Some of these have also been re-posted in Halo. Do not fall for these schemes. When in doubt, contact technical support or IT Security for clarification before providing an untrusted party with any information, clicking links, or taking other suspicious actions.
Be especially cautious if something seems too good to be true, in particular if:
- Financial information is requested.
- Someone requests personal information.
- Money is requested as a “fee” prior to being able to take advantage of an opportunity.
- Look out for impersonated people and email addresses, such as firstname.lastname.gcu@gmail.com or a correct name with a fake email domain.
If you encounter any posts in Halo that you believe could be fraudulent, please report those posts to IT Security at itsecurity@gcu.edu and do not provide any information to or interact with the perpetrators of these scams.
